Welcome to the world of Macs. I've never had anything else, outside the Texas Instruments keyboard we hooked up to the TV when I was sixteen so I could use BASIC to get it to play "The Merry Widow Waltz." I can't imagine having anything but. iCal is wonderful, and will transfer to your iPhone!
